Heya! I'm Ruth, a third-year Natural Sciences student from Swansea. I originally came to Cambridge with the intention of going into Physics, and in my first year took modules in Physics, Materials Science, Earth Sciences, and Mathematics. By the end of first year I had realised that physics wasn't for me, so spent my second year doing a mixture of Earth Sciences and a new module: History and Philosophy of Science, or HPS for short. Despite having not written a proper essay since GCSE English, I fell in love with the subject and department, and will be doing HPS full time in third year. I spend most of my time in the ADC, the largest student theatre here, helping run the technical side of student shows here - usually as a lighting designer or electrician. The technical theatre scene here is amazingly inclusive, and I learned everything I know here with no prior experience. I can also sometimes be found with the university Ceilidh Band, either at a gig, rehearsing, or just playing down the pub!
Hi everyone, I’m Sarah! I’m a third-year studying MML (French and Spanish) and I’m from Liverpool. In my spare time at Cambridge I am involved in the Welfare committee and the Women’s Sub-Committee and I also attend many dance classes run by CUTAZZ Dance Society. If you have any questions at all about MML or extra-curricular activities, don’t hesitate to email me.

Hey! I am a second year Natural Scientist studying Earth and Plant Sciences. Currently I enjoy swimming for the University blues team and I’d like to play more netball with Magdalene Ladies over the next year! Magdalene is a friendly, unique college with a great support system- and, importantly, some perfectly positioned punts on our ‘beach’. Any questions about NatSci, sports in Cambridge or general Magdalene life, I’d love to hear from you.
Hi! I’m Eve, a second-year history student at Magdalene. I’m involved with college netball, trying to keep Magdalene away from the bottom of the league table, as well as occasionally writing for Varsity! When I’m not battling a reading list on the Tudors or Napoleon, I like to take advantage of the stellar nightlife Cambridge has to offer. I’m also a member of the Freshers’ Committee, so I should be able to provide a friendly face when new first-years begin to arrive!
Hey everyone, I'm Alex - A second year medic here at Magdalene! I'm from a town in the midlands (yes they exist, I won't have any of this north/south divide rubbish) called Worcester. First year medicine was a real fun year, and all though it was seriously hard work, I loved every minute of it (even the moments when I dozed off in biochem lectures)! In my spare time I do a few things; im either chilling with my friends drinking tea in my room or beer in the Pick', practising karate or helping run some JCR event as I'm the Equal Opportunities Officer for 2017 - see the page under 'college life' if you want to know what that actually means! If you have any questions feel feel to give me a shout - Magdalene love!
Hiya I’m Hatty, a 4th year student studying medicine here at Magdalene. I come from a little town in Hampshire that no one has ever heard of, called Alton – and no, it’s not Alton Towers! Third year medicine is very different from the others, as you can choose your modules – I’ve chosen to do Physiology, Development and Neuroscience. The first half of my course has been fun, but I’m really looking forward to seeing the more practical side next year. When I’m not doing medicine stuff I’m usually make myself a cup of tea, or... well, drinking it! Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Hi, I’m Ellie and I’m a third-year English student, from a small village in Bedfordshire. I love the course and how much choice we get – I tend to focus more on poetry.
In my spare time, I do interviews for Varsity (the student newspaper) and write for a couple of smaller magazines. I’m Access Officer for the Cambridge Union, which holds some incredible debates and speaker events. I also really like the comedy and theatre scene in Cambridge so I often go and watch my friends’ plays. I didn’t have any experience of theatre before I came here but that really wasn’t an issue – there are lots of ways to get involved. I do a bit of producing, for the ADC, and for student films made by the Cambridge Film Association too. A highlight of last year, for me, was being in a sketch show, which we then took to the Fringe. Feel free to send me questions about getting involved with any of these kind of things.
Hello I'm Jools a third year Human Social and Political Sciences student from Aldershot in Hampshire. I focus on Politics and Sociology within HSPS. When not studying I like to relax in the many coffee shops around Cambridge, attend some of the amazing talks across the university as well as being involved with the Magdalene College student committee. I am the Magdalene JCR Access officer for 2017 meaning I am involved in residential, open days, school visits and interviews! My role also entails me meeting many prospective students and letting them know what being a student at Magdalene and Cambridge is really like. I am happy to answer any questions you may have so don't hesitate to send me an email!
