Catering
If you have any questions about the catering available at Magdalene, please contactRamsay Hall
Ramsay Hall is the canteen at Magdalene. It is located in Second Court. There are seats available outside and inside.
Ramsay is open (almost) all year round, even during the holidays. On weekdays, it serves lunch (12:00–13:30) and dinner (18:00–19:15). At weekends, it serves brunch (11:00–13:30) and dinner (18:00–19:15).
A main course costs £3.15. A side costs £0.77. A dessert costs £1.50. There is usually a 'cheap option', which costs £2.50. One brunch item (e.g. mini hash browns) costs £0.80. Soups, sandwiches, and hot and cold drinks are also available on most days. In summer, there are ice creams available too!
The menu each week can be viewed here: Ramsay Menus.Formal Hall
Formals are three-course meals in Magdalene's Hall, located in First Court. Meals are lit entirely by candlelight (and the sun if it is still bright outside). The dress code for formals is 'smart'; college members should wear their gown.
Formals are held for undergraduate students on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 19:30, although arriving early is recommended.
They cost £11.65 for Magdalene students. Guests cost £19.35. Wine can be purchased from the buttery from £9.90 (although like formal hall itself, is completely optional). If you choose to bring your own wine, there is a corkage fee of £3.20, which must be paid upon entry.
Formals must be booked in advance on UPay by 12:00 the day before the formal. Menus can be viewed on UPay or here: Formal Hall Menus.College Bar and Cafe
The College Bar, located in First Court, provides drinks and snacks to students at competitive prices most evenings.
In the daytime, the Bar becomes the College Cafe, providing hot drinks, cakes, and a more relaxed working space than the library.
Self catering
Limited cooking facilities are provided in Magdalene accommodation, allowing students to prepare simple meals. All students have access to a kettle, a microwave, a toaster, and an induction hob. There are a few ovens in the college, but these are rare.
