Open Days

Open Days are your chance to look around the College and to meet current students. Magdalene hosts a number of Open Days each year, where prospective students can go on a student-led tour of the college (including accommodation and the library), ask questions, listen to talks on the admissions process, and meet the Director of Studies who is responsible for their course at Magdalene. Please find more details here: Open Days.

Shadowing Scheme

The Shadowing Scheme is an opportunity for prospective applicants to spend three days 'shadowing' a Cambridge student, going to lectures and supervisions (classes with only one or two students), as well as other talks, workshops and social events. This is a great way to experience life at Cambridge before applying and to learn more about the course you intend to study.

The scheme takes place in late January and early February. Applications for it usually open in November, you can find out more and apply here: Shadowing Scheme.

School Visits

Magdalene hosts visits each year from schools from Merseyside, North Wales, and the Isle of Man. These are a great way to see the College during term time, to talk to current students, and to get to a feel for Cambridge before applying. These visits usually include a tour of College and a question and answer session with current students. Further details are available here: School Visits.

Magdalene Residential

The Magdalene College Residential is a fantastic opportunity for prospective students to find out more about studying at Cambridge. Further details are available here: Magdalene College Residential.

Informal Visits

We understand that these opportunities may not be accessible to everyone. It is usually possible to visit Magdalene at other times. Visitors should first speak to the Porters in the Porters' Lodge, who will be happy to help guide your visit. We encourage you to contact the JCR Access and Academic Officer (jcr-access-academic@magd.cam.ac.uk) or the Magdalene College Admissions Office (admissions@magd.cam.ac.uk before visiting, because you may (depending on availability) be able to meet a current student to ask any questions or even to visit the New Library, which is not normally open to visitors.
